The Frogman Exhibit

A world-renowned bronze sculptor will visit the award-winning Hepplestone Fine Art Gallery in Heskin this September, writes Sarah Ulyatt

Recently named ‘Retail Art Gallery of the Year 2018’ by the Fine Art Trade Guild, Hepplestone Fine Art Gallery is playing host to world-renowned bronze sculptor of frogs, Frogman, on Thursday 20th September 2018, 7pm to 9pm.

The Frogman, more formally known as Tim Cotterill, will be leap-frogging over the pond from his home in America for his new exhibition featuring an exclusive piece called ‘Josephine’, of which there are only 15 pieces available worldwide. This exclusive piece is available to view and pre-order now.

Born in Leicester in 1950, Tim left school at the age of 15 to complete a six-year engineering apprenticeship.

Intrigued with metalworking, Tim created radical, wheeled vehicles and metal sculptures of animals and birds during the 1970s and 1980s. He then emigrated to California in 1990 where he has devoted himself solely to creating his stunning molten bronze sculptures. Frogman sculptures are now in galleries and private collections throughout the world and are collected by billionaires and celebrities alike. Frogman sculptures can be found in the collections of many well-known names including Michelle Pfeiffer, David Hasselhoff and Whoopi Goldberg.

He creates the sculptures by using the lost-wax process, finishing each piece with a chemical patina colour which makes each one entirely unique. Tim explains: “Frogs are fun creatures. I have tried to capture their individual spirit, their fun, and their joy. Life is fun. I hope my art brings more happiness and joy into your life.”
