IN THE MOOD FOR CHRISTMAS
As the sunshine disappears, Italian restaurant Mezzo is here to help you start getting in the Christmas spirit. Gail Bailey visited them to chat about their fabulous, festive menu. Photography: Robin Lyndon
As we say goodbye to summer, thoughts inevitably start to drift towards the Christmas season and at Mezzo Italian restaurant they are already ensuring they have a perfect menu in place for guests to enjoy seasonal celebrations.
Mezzo in Italian means ‘half’ and the restaurant is perfectly located half-way between Preston and Blackburn, superbly placed, especially for businesses who have an office in both towns.
As I approached the impressive glass fronted doorway Mezzo immediately felt warm and welcoming, with an incredibly stylish and chic décor including polished wooden floors, leather seating and high-backed booths.
This modern interior has a spacious lounge bar area and restaurant, which can cater for around 130 covers. Lucie McCrory of Mezzo pointed out that the size of the restaurant makes it ideal for families to get together, or for office and work parties to celebrate and take a break: “We are the perfect place for families and groups to meet up and be able to relax, unwind and celebrate the festive season. We can take the stress out of prepping and cooking and people can just enjoy fabulous food, celebratory drinks and each other’s company.”
Lucie was keen to show me the newly created Christmas menu which is available throughout December and showcases bespoke Christmas cocktails including a cranberry based Mohito HoHoHo and the perfectly named Jingle and Tonic! The exciting menu of course includes the traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, but also caters for those who want a little more variety such as Salmone con Spinacci which sees salmon topped with prawns in a creamy white wine sauce served on a bed of spinach, Risotto al Pollo, a fantastically tasty Italian risotto rice dish with chicken, chorizo and cherry tomatoes and for those with a sweet tooth there’s a choice of panettone, chocolate fudge cake and, of course, the Italian classic tiramisu to end your festive meal.
With a wonderful and varied selection of wines and champagnes to complement your meal there’s nothing not to like at Mezzo.
