INSPIRED BY THE NATURAL WORLD…

For the first time, Farrow & Ball has created a brand new palette of 16 colours in collaboration with renowned institution the Natural History Museum, inspired by the true colours of nature

The new Colour by Nature palette from Farrow & Ball includes vibrant and jewel like oranges and reds, natural and opulent greens and blues and a range of soft neutrals. The collection of 16 colours launched last month as an extension to the 132 colours on Farrow & Ball’s colour card.

The collaboration with the Natural History Museum draws on the museum’s world-leading collection including its rare book library, which holds Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours, a colour guide used by Charles Darwin on his seminal voyage on HMS Beagle that inspired the palette – to bring the true colours of nature into the home. This ground-breaking book was first published in 1814 and became an invaluable tool for scientists and artists alike. Every colour described in Werner’s book evokes a vision inspired by the natural world. Colour by Nature is a celebration not only of colour, but also of the shared respect and curiosity for the natural world.

Each shade has been meticulously identified, classified and researched in the same way as those that make up the Farrow & Ball core palette, and are blended with an eco-friendly water base that’s kinder to the environment and safe to use in all rooms of the home.

Each hue is available in a choice of five interior finishes, expertly engineered to deliver exceptional vibrancy, durability and coverage.

Charlotte Cosby, head of creative at Farrow & Ball, explains: “This is the first time we have created a new palette as an extension to our carefully curated colour card, so it’s a very exciting time for us.”

“With the expertise of the Natural History Museum we hope to inspire homes across the globe and what better way to do that with the eco-friendly colours inspired by nature – and we want to encourage people to discover their own colours by getting out into nature and sharing their findings with us!”

Maxine Lister, head of licensing at the Natural History Museum, adds: “Aside from the fantastic quality of the Farrow & Ball brand, we are very excited to be working alongside a company that is so committed to minimising their environmental impact. The collaboration has been a delight to bring to life and has proved to be such a great opportunity to not only highlight an important historical artefact but also to encourage families to bring the true beauty of nature into their homes.”
