It’s Panto Time!

It’s nearing that time when the pantos have been chosen, the auditions have finished, and rehearsals are well underway, writes Tracy Hargreaves

The only difficult part is deciding which panto to go to. With so many theatres in the region, there is definitely a panto for everyone. Here’s a few of our suggestions to help you decide.

Peter Pan will be taking to the stage at Blackburn’s Empire Theatre. There will be evil pirates, hungry crocodiles and one of the meanest men in panto land, Captain Hook. Dates from 30th November. Visit https://blackburnempire.com/ for more information.

Jack and the Beanstalk is on at The Playhouse Theatre in Preston. The pantomime is presented by the Preston Musical Society. Tickets start from £8 and the show will be a giant family pantomime spectacular. www.prestonplayhouse.co.uk

Chorley Little Theatre will be showing Beauty and the Beast from 14th-22nd December. This classic fairy tale gets a panto twist, but it won’t disappoint as it features a traditional dame, songs and plenty of slapstick and silliness. www.chorleylittletheatre.com

With rosy apples, and even rosier cheeks, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a story for all the family. Brought to you by Paul Holman Associates at the Lowther Pavilion, it is guaranteed to be a hit with the young and old. www.lowtherpavilion.co.uk

This year’s panto at the Preston Guild Hall will be Cinderella, with Phil Walker, back by popular demand as Buttons. With plenty of comedy, banter and a good old-fashioned sing song.
