If you haven’t discovered King Street Kitchen in Whalley yet, you’re in for a real treat. Tucked away in this picture-perfect village, it’s been quietly winning over locals for the past five years – and it’s easy to see why. Maurice Camm and Mark Gaukroger, the owners, have created something special with their mix of classic French dishes, carefully selected wines and just the right amount of warmth and hospitality.

The bistro’s location is one of the prettiest spots in the village and on a sunny day, there’s nothing better than sitting outside with a glass of wine and a few nibbles before dinner. And with spring just around the corner, dining al fresco is going to be even more tempting!

Inside, the vibe is laid-back yet cosy – perfect for a casual lunch to a special evening out with friends, family or that someone special. The menu isn’t huge, but it’s thoughtfully put together, focusing on all the French bistro classics. With no set menus, it’s a case of just ordering as little or as much as you like. Every dish is freshly made and beautifully presented, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or going all out with a full meal.

Spring’s almost here, which means a new seasonal menu is on the horizon and whilst you’ll always find beloved classics like French onion soup, steak frites, treacle tart and choux buns on the menu, there’ll be some fresh new flavours to try as well, with the best seasonal produce on show. Don’t worry if puddings aren’t your thing, they also have a delicious selection of British cheeses with fruitcake and chutney to round off your meal.

Maurice is always happy to recommend the perfect wine pairing and their wine list offering quality wines both by the glass and by the bottle, is well-priced and well-curated.

King Street Kitchen is open for lunch Wednesday to Saturday, offering lighter bites like salads, sandwiches and a classic Croque Monsieur or Croque Madame. On Sundays, they serve a traditional roast alongside their regular menu and Plat du Jour. As the weather warms up, it’s easy to imagine spending a leisurely afternoon outside, enjoying the food and soaking up the atmosphere with a chilled glass of wine.

It’s not often you find a place that gets everything right – delicious food, friendly service and a relaxed vibe that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re a regular or planning your first visit, King Street Kitchen promises a dining experience you won’t forget, especially with all those fresh spring flavours coming soon!
