Keeping It In The Family

Lanigans is probably one of the longest established and recognisable businesses in Lytham, trading from its current location in Clifton Street for over 80 years

Third generation owner Andrew Lanigan, assisted by wife Ade and son Tom, and their team of knowledgeable and friendly staff, makes Lanigan’s the ‘go to’ destination for the very best in quality fresh fish, seafood, game and poultry.

Whilst people’s shopping habits might have changed over the years, there’s still a high demand for quality locally sourced seasonal produce with provenance. Local shrimps, bass and Dover sole, Bridlington crab, Isle of Man lobster, Lidisfarne oysters, wild sea trout and fresh salmon from Scotland’s Loch Duart are just a small selection of the fantastic offering at Lanigans.

Andrew tells me: “Our Cumbrian chickens are prepared on site and have taste far superior to your average chicken – what people don’t realise is that we can compete with the big supermarkets on price and certainly on quality.”

There’s also a wide variety of game including pheasant, grouse, partridge, rabbit, hare, pigeon, woodcock and snipe, shot locally and prepared ready to take away to enjoy.

This commitment to quality and service makes them a trusted supplier to numerous restaurants and hotels. Whilst there’s been a demise in the number of independent fishmongers, Lanigans has become the destination on the top of many shoppers’ lists, both locally and further afield, throughout the year and especially at Christmas where orders can be made in advance and collected near to the big day.
