Life’s A Beach
Whalley based footwear retailer LANX used iconic locations along Lancashire’s Fylde Coast as the backdrop for their latest campaign photoshoot. Partnerships’ Manager Evan Soule explains why. Photography: Michael Hearn
You won’t find prouder Lanacastrians than the team here at LANX. We’re based in the Ribble Valley, and each shoe style is named after a local town, village, or well- known character. A coastal name seemed fitting for our new women’s boat shoe, so of course we had to shoot the Lytham style in its namesake location.
We knew better than to hope for blue skies and a warm breeze so planned to roll with the punches and work with whatever conditions we were presented with. Unsurprisingly, the shores of Lytham, St. Annes and Blackpool offered all four seasons in two days – exactly what we were hoping for as a brand who advocates getting ‘em worn whatever the weather. No fair-weather people here.
Between us, the LANX team have probably visited every chippy and ice-cream van in the area so naturally a ‘99, chippy lunch and seagulls stealing said chippy lunch featured in our campaign. Keeping it real, after all.
Talented photographer Rosie Woods and videographer Patrick Tillard captured candids against iconic landmarks such as Lytham windmill, St Anne’s Pier and arcade and of course Blackpool Tower and Comedy Carpet. Models Duncan and Sophie, a real-life couple, brought authenticity and a genuine sense of fun to the shoot which reflected a typical day out to the Lancashire seaside. We want people to watch the video and think ‘I recognise that place!’ and relate to exactly the kind of day we had. And hopefully want a pair of our shoes too, of course!
Evan added: “Watch our campaign video on our website including a behind the scenes film of the day. You’ll see all the antics, outtakes, and stunning Fylde scenery that make our photoshoots as fun as they are authentic. “Our two-day adventure was as real as it gets with seaside escapades. This shoot embodies everything LANX stands for: authentic experiences, robust laughter and shoes that truly keep up with life including the Fylde Coast’s weather!”
