Looking for more space in your home but don’t want the cost or the hassle of an extension? Many homeowners around the country have found one answer might be a ‘pod’ – a bespoke designed timber garden room with all the home comforts but at much less cost than bricks and mortar.
Whether you are looking to add an office, a gym, home cinema or whatever you choose, a pod might be just the thing, as David Harper of Executive Pods explained: “They are as comfortable as any room in the house, with choice of under-floor heating, mains power and water – even air conditioning if you choose. Also, being far more lightweight than a conventional extension, they can be sited on almost any kind of ground with just a concrete base and no need to dig out for foundations, so there’s much less disruption too.”
The benefits don’t end there. With a stylish cedar-clad exterior, they look good alongside any size, age or style of house, will last years and years with no timber treatment whatsoever, they can be designed free-standing or attached to the house, and the inevitable matter of planning permission is much easier than with a conventional extension.
