New Dim Sum Menu

Yu General Manager Craig Jackson gives us all the reasons we need to visit the award-winning Yu Copster Green or Yu Express this February, writes Sarah Varley

Whether you are in time to catch the amazing Chinese New Year menu or want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, little excuse is needed to enjoy the culinary delights of Yu this February. Renowned for using the best, fresh ingredients and innovatively blending fine dining with both traditional and modern methods of Chinese cooking, the food at Yu is second to none.

On Thursday 6th February Yu Copster Green will hold the first of the themed events planned for 2020 – an ABBA night in aid of local charity, Nightsafe with a fabulous three-course banquet. Tickets are £45pp which includes a donation to Nightsafe and there will also be a raffle and silent auction.

Yu is open throughout the Valentine’s weekend. As General Manager Craig Jackson explains: “We are not having a set Valentine’s menu as we want to allow people to just enjoy all the things they love about Yu – great hospitality, great Chinese food and great cocktails. It’s the perfect place to spend time together.”

Family is at the heart of Yu’s ethos. Chinese New Year is all about family and it is considered good luck in Chinese culture to give gifts of money in red envelopes at New Year to children and elderly members of the family. Yu have taken inspiration from this custom by giving out ‘Yu dollars’ in red envelopes to customers at the end of their meal – £10 vouchers to spend on their next visit.

Spending time with family and friends is also the inspiration behind the launch of the new addition of Dim Sum to both the Yu Copster Green and Yu Express menus. “We wanted to create a sharing menu that would get people talking and provide a more sociable experience trying new dishes together,” Craig explains.

“Victor has worked with celebrity chef Ching He Huang to create a fantastic new bespoke menu of Dim Sum so people can now enjoy trying different themed selections of dumplings. We will have some really delicious combinations such as Char Siu Puff Pastry Bao, Pork & Black Pudding War Tip and Prawn Har Kau (subject to change) alongside all the Yu favourites like Crispy Chilli Chicken. Dim Sum is also perfect for Yu Express takeaways because the dishes are great conversation-starters so they really get people to put down their phones and try new things!”
