NEW LOOK…

Gorgeous homeware accessories nestle next to a line-up of top label fashion at a stunning Barrowford boutique

A popular Barrowford boutique has opened its doors under new ownership and a beautiful new look.

At the heart of this historic mill town is Kimora, which has recently been taken over by Ruth Holden who has introduced stunning homeware to the first floor while keeping all the high end fashion brands for which the boutique has become renowned.

Step inside Kimora to discover interiors accessories from the likes of Retreat and Hot Tomato as well as textiles, rugs, cushions and throws from Walton and Co of York and totally unique, original artwork and cards by Wendy Addison.

Check out the hand-crafted Elephant Parade – collectable elephants that are hand-painted as part of a worldwide social enterprise project that sees each limited edition raise money towards elephant conservation in Africa and India.

Delightful handmade cards and gifts from Penny Lindop also feature at Kimora as well as stunningly beautiful kitchen accessories and Staffordshire bone china from Mosney Mill. The artist behind Mosney Mill is Emma Sutton from Lancashire, who has created some truly exceptional designs – and Kimora is all set for her new ‘robin’ collection just in time for Christmas!

Beautiful hearts by Dimbleby Ceramic make great gifts while candles from Stone Glow, hand poured in the UK, have also proved to be extremely popular.

“I like to feature British designers,” says Ruth, who has totally refurbished the interior of Kimora in muted tones, making shopping there a totally relaxing experience.

On the fashion side, Ruth has introduced St Tropez to her label line-up – a name that appeals to a more petite frame for an edgier look.

The hugely popular Masai label, that has attracted customers from far and wide since Kimora first opened just over a decade ago, also features in the autumn/winter collections with some easy to wear separates in bold and striking colours, while B.Young and Irish brand Deck by Decollage offer some fabulous mix-and-match separates that are perfect for layering.

New label Chalk presents some stunning pieces that feature fabulous quality linen and exceptional design while Postcard from Brighton offers a new line in eye-catching casuals.

Collections of beautiful accessories can also be found alongside the fashion labels on the ground floor including bags and purses from Red Cuckoo – 100 per cent vegan label offering great quality and a variety of styles.

Snug candles and diffusers, made in Huddersfield from essential oils, offer superb quality and sit beside jewellery by Marlene Hounam – a delightful collection of sterling silver plated chains and charms. These make ideal gifts or simply treat yourself – choose from three lengths of chain and select a sentiment that appeals!

Since taking over from Kimora founder Lyndsay Kirk, Ruth has been delighted with the response from her customers, who are thrilled to discover that she has retained the friendly Kimora sales team as well adding new brands to the hugely popular ones introduced by Lyndsay when Kimora first opened.

“By introducing homeware and gifts to Kimora adds to the shopping experience,” says Ruth, who personally hand selects the fashion and homeware collections, with more top brands in the pipeline.

“I think we have a great choice of extremely popular labels on the fashion side and some lovely gifts and accessories – add to that the friendly and knowledgeable team and we have a winning formula!”
