WIGAN PIT SCENE by Theodore Major
A rare opportunity to purchase an original oil painting by the late Theodore Major. Born in humble circumstances in Wigan, it was a place that had a strong influence on both Major’s art and his attitude. During his lifetime, Major refused to sell his paintings as he was opposed to materialism and rich collectors acquiring his art. However, should he have done so, it was said that he would have been bigger than LS Lowry and his work has subsequently been exhibited alongside Lowry in museum exhibitions.
