ON A SHOE MISSION…

Whalley shoe company LANX is on a Made in Lancashire mission to breathe fresh life into shoe manufacturing in the county and create new jobs

LANX creator and founder Marco Vaghetti has brought all the shoe-making expertise he experienced during his worldwide travels, back home to Lancashire with a mission to re-energise the county’s shoe-making heritage.

“Since our launch in 2018 we have invested heavily in shoe manufacturing and our mission is to increase Lancashire production further and create new jobs,” explains Marco.

“The support we are receiving from people in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire and around the North West has been great and it has given us the confidence to invest further in LANX’s infrastructure and manufacturing.”

What once was a thriving shoe-making hub of the north, Lancashire has over the years, lost much of its production to overseas manufacturers, losing jobs and a rich history in the process. But, LANX are changing this by investing heavily in the business: “Our shoes are made in Lancashire by a small team of talented shoemakers. We are very committed to Lancashire and to expanding production and growing the business from our base in Whalley.”

On the back of the launch of their new autumn/winter men’s and women’s shoe collections last month, LANX continues to pursue its ‘sole purpose’ – to breathe new life into the Lancashire footwear industry.

“Our new men’s collection features autumnal colours in dark brown, black and navy, in a series of new styles. The development of our women’s collection has been in response to demand and has been very well received.”

Since launching in 2018, LANX has enjoyed great success locally, nationally and internationally with online orders coming from around the world.

Their unique blend of innovative ‘business-casual’ designs, quality materials and ‘limited edition’ releases has attracted a loyal following and great feedback from customers.

“Next year we are hoping to grow the brand both nationally and internationally. We are also looking to add new staff members to our small and passionate team,” adds Marco, who currently employs four full time members of staff as well as several part time staff to assist with their ever growing schedule of festivals, county shows and artisan markets around the UK.

As part of their Lancashire investment strategy, LANX will next month be moving to a new warehouse, office and retail premises on the outskirts of Whalley, at the new Mitton Road Business Park.

“We will be holding an Open Weekend so people can pop in, have a chat and see what we do and learn more about our Made in Lancashire mission.”
