One For The Girls…

Highclere’s Jason Fildes announces a new collaboration between Manor House Stables and Live Ribble Valley magazine, which will see the formation of a new ladies-only syndicate

In an exciting new venture, Live Ribble Valley has teamed up with Manor House Stables to own this fabulous filly. She is a yearling – so just a baby and will go into training with Tom Dascombe in Cheshire, ahead of making her debut on the racecourse next spring/summer.

What a beauty she is! Her sire is the famous Night of Thunder, who won the 2000 Guineas in 2014 and was a champion over one mile. He is the sire of Highclere’s Thunderous as well as recent champions Dubai Love, Suesa and Under the Stars. Her dam is Coillte Cailin, the winner of seven races herself and a wonderfully tough and consistent mare.

Our filly was bought by the well-known bloodstock agent, Ed Sackville at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale 2021 for £70,000.

We have decided to launch a new ladies’ syndicate, which will be open only to readers of Live Ribble Valley.

Details are as follows:
• There are just 15 shares available in the ladies-only syndicate, in association with Live Ribble Valley at £6,950 per share, to include purchase of the filly and all first year’s training and racing expenses. You will not receive another bill – all prize money won will be divided between the shareholders at the end of each year.
• The syndicate will own and race the currently unnamed filly (see photographs) to be trained by Tom Dascombe at Manor House Stables, Cheshire.
• The plan is to launch the Night of Thunder Filly Syndicate in this edition of Live Ribble Valley and then follow up with a ‘naming lunch’ at which we will meet over a glass of champagne or two and a delicious lunch to choose a name for our filly and decide what our jockey’s colours should be.
• Michael Owen and Tom Dascombe will then host a welcome to Manor House event early next year at which we will have a VIP tour of the stables, see our filly in training and enjoy drinks and lunch in their spectacular owners’ hospitality rooms.

We plan to have a proper day out whenever, and wherever, our new filly runs.

Tom Dascombe loves to have winners at Chester and York so those will be the two racecourses we will be aiming at to start with!

Owner’s badges for the races will be available for all members of the syndicate, and partners if required, when our filly runs and we will have a box or tables for lunch to enjoy on the day. The LRV photographer will of course be on hand to make sure that the day is featured in the following edition of Live Ribble Valley!

We will also have regular stable visits to see our filly on the gallops at the stunning Manor House Stables in Cheshire. Set in beautiful countryside, the stables have been built and are owned by ex-Liverpool footballer Michael Owen. As you might imagine, it’s been beautifully done and they have the most fabulous owners’ room, overlooking the stables, with chilled champagne always on offer!

Another lovely benefit of joint ownership is the opportunity to meet like-minded people – and have fun, hopefully enjoying success together. Having run Highclere syndicates for a few years I have seen many great friendships formed on the basis of a shared interest in a good horse!

Speaking about the collaboration between Highclere and Live Ribble Valley, Live Magazines’ Managing Director Tedd Walmsley commented: “What an incredible opportunity for our readers to get involved with – owning part of a racehorse!

“The excitement attending some of the north’s finest racecourses, in all your finery, combined with visits to the yard to watch this filly being trained sounds wonderful.

“The syndicate will undoubtedly enjoy some grand days out and new friendships will be formed too. Counting your winnings or cursing your luck – this is memory making at its best. This is a relatively low-cost entry to what is an exciting new world for the lucky 15 stakeholders.”

We do hope you are interested in taking a share in this exciting new venture. Between us we’ll make sure it’s great fun as well as, hopefully being successful too.

The 15 shares are to be sold on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Jason Fildes or Tedd Walmsley – details below.
