ONLY THE BEST!

Having undergone a stunning makeover, the Black Bull at Old Langho has gone one step further to accommodate diners in a magical outdoor area.

With a large stretch tent, a new patio and bar, outdoor heating, blankets, luxury rattan furniture – all illuminated with fairy lights and pontoon lighting, this is the ultimate guests could wish for when embarking on an afternoon or evening out.

Add to that superb views over the surrounding meadows and a new wine and Champagne list put together by sommelier and manager Katherine Renhard, and visitors have an unforgettable experience in the making!

“It’s looking really incredible! We are so excited about the investment we have made in the outdoor area,” says Rebecca Govier, who runs the inn with husband Jamie. “We have put so much effort and thought into it and now that it’s finished, we can’t wait to welcome customers back – it really is magical!”

Head Chef John Dawson has also put together a new outdoor menu featuring all the classics for which the Black Bull has become renowned, including tasty steak burgers and sharing platters including a Fishmonger’s Board and a Butcher’s Board featuring buttermilk chicken, sticky chorizo and glazed chipolatas.

If you’re out walking, bike-riding or simply can’t book a table, you can still get a picnic-style takeout, all boxed up with branded logos, to enjoy: “We offer most of our menu as a takeaway option and only choose dishes that travel and keep well. You can also order desserts, drinks and wine to takeaway too,” say Rebecca and Jamie, who have transformed the inn, which sits at the heart of the community in Old Langho.

The drinks menu features draught and cask ales along with a selection of popular wines from around the world, and the Black Bull also has a dedicated kids’ menu featuring steak and chicken burgers, pizza and fish and chips. As the inn is dog friendly, they have a Dog’s Dinner menu featuring chipolatas, steak stew, chicken, a Sunday roast and for the health conscious a quinoa salad. In the outside area you will find a dog’s Watering Hole – a traditional beer barrel with water tap so your furry friend can also enjoy a drink!

“We absolutely love this place,” says Rebecca. “We always put in a huge amount of effort so our customers get what they deserve – only the best! We have a passion for the pub and we are proud that it is the heart of the community here.”

As part of the takeaway service the Black Bull also offers a local delivery service too – delivering food and drink to the neighbouring lodge park Ribble Valley View and the pub’s new Black Bull at Home hampers are also going down a treat with locals, who want to cook something really special at home.

“The hampers feature really high-end meals that are partially prepared for diners to finish off cooking at home. They are great for a special occasion or celebration, and they are very reasonably priced too!”

Now open seven days a week, Rebecca, Jamie and the team are thrilled to be welcoming diners back to the pub, which has a beautiful, newly-refurbished dining room as well as a cosy, romantic library room with an illuminated clock inset into the wall. Featuring a Yamaha piano in the corner, the snug has a relaxed, gentleman’s ‘smoking room’ feel: “We are so excited at the prospect of being fully open and will be opening as soon as we are allowed – we opened on 12th April for outdoor drinks and dining and for indoor dining we will hopefully be opening on 17th May – we can’t wait! It’s so exciting especially now that we have our new outdoor area, which is a really attractive place to sit and relax, enjoy great food and drink in a beautiful setting.

“We just wanted to achieve something really special for our customers and we have certainly done that – it’s the perfect place to visit so customers will have to make sure they book early to ensure they have a table.”
