PHASE THREE: POOL, SPA & FITNESS

Lancashire architects Stanton Andrews review their work on the historic Holmes Mill in Clitheroe and look ahead to the completion of the third and final phase

Stanton Andrews are extremely pleased that the efforts made to create a viable use for the historic Holmes Mill and bring additional employment to Clitheroe have been acknowledged in the recent award by CAMRA.

They have also announced that the development has also been shortlisted for two further awards Best Large Commercial Project and Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion at the LABC Awards 2018. Winners will be announced at the end of April.

Additional recognition of the scale of the development will no doubt follow when the third phase, a leisure complex with pool, spa and fitness facilities, is completed and the Holmes Mill development will then be finished.

There is no doubt however that it will evolve – we are currently developing designs for a compact arts cinema with ‘love seats’, beer on tap and great snacks.

Stanton Andrews Architects have been working on this exciting project since 2014 and whilst the works have required change and alterations, they have also been respectful of the historic fabric of the building and its setting. It is a great asset to the town and will only encourage more visitors to the Ribble Valley.

The £10 million 64,000 sq ft Holmes Mill project, which is part of the James’ Places portfolio is home to Bowland Brewery, the Beer Hall, Bowland Food Hall, a multi-use function room, café and gelataria, the 1823 Spinning Block hotel, the Bistro, Bar & Grill and the soon to be completed leisure complex.

If you have a project, whether it is a listed mill, brewery, leisure centre, offices, an extension to an existing property or a new house and want a good local architect then why not give Stanton Andrews Architects a call.
