PILATES, THE PERFECT MEDICINE

After finding that her successful job in marketing began to fill her life with stress and her body with anxiety, Catherine Mould explored several methods of relaxation before discovering that Pilates provided the release that she needed. After noticing the benefits instantly, she embarked upon her journey to sharing her newly-discovered passion with others.

Since completing her training to be a Mat Work Pilates instructor in 2016, Catherine has taught a number of classes across Preston, and has been spurred on to undertake further study towards gaining her full comprehensive Pilates qualification, which allows her to teach equipment-based Pilates.

When opportunity knocked and a studio space became available at Trybe Hot Yoga Studio in Penwortham, she couldn’t resist the chance to develop her passion into a business.

Since starting her journey, Catherine has added antenatal and postnatal Pilates to her list of specialisms. With specific movements adapted to focus on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, adjust breathing, work with a woman’s changing posture, strengthen upper back muscles and provide some much-needed time to relax, Catherine notes how Pilates can become a vital addition to the schedules of both pregnant women and new Mums alike.

Classes at The Pilates Room have been designed to highlight the fact that the workouts have no limit or restriction to those who can take part. Exercises are low-impact and proven to provide a wide range of health benefits, leaving them accessible to everyone from the age of 10 to 90, whether they are at the highest level of fitness or living with a health challenge.

The new studio is set to open on 1st October 2018 and will be fully-equipped with Align-Pilates studio equipment including a reformer, Pilates chair and Cadillac. The equipment will help to provide a wider range of activities for those with mobility difficulties, whilst also adding a new dimension to the exercises of more experienced clients, who will find their routine enhanced and intensified.

Catherine’s mat classes will also continue to run. However, booking is essential to avoid disappointment, as these intimate classes are limited to a maximum of six people, providing clients with a personal, one-to-one experience tailored to their specific needs. A full range of mid-week classes will be available, including beginners’ movement classes, mixed-ability classes and private equipment sessions. The timetable is updated each week and can be found on the website.
