PROUD TO BE A WINNER…

Designer Katie Green has created another beautiful kitchen which demonstrates just why her business is a winner

A delighted Katie Green of Heart of your Home Kitchens was named as the Creative Business Award winner at the Ribble Valley Business Awards last month. With many years’ experience within the industry, Katie launched her Waddington based business two years ago. Since then, she has become renowned for her groundbreaking design, flawless attention to detail and her personalised customer service.

Heart of your Home Kitchens’ customers really appreciate that Katie personally oversees each individual project using her skilled and experienced team of craftsmen for each installation.

That was the case for one of her most recent projects where she designed a beautiful kitchen utilising her traditional British-made 1909 collection.

The kitchen, in a converted barn, features cabinetry in Partridge Grey, Charcoal and Chalk teamed with Quartz white marble worktops.

The project included the removal and reinstallation of a feature chimney breast with storage either side. “This became the focal point of the kitchen,” explains Katie.

The installation also incorporated the laying of a porcelain tile floor and an island unit featuring an integrated soft-close wine cooler by German manufacturer Liebherr. Other Liebherr appliances included a fridge and a freezer which automatically produces ice.

An induction hob, steam oven, two further ovens and a combination microwave all by Miele were also installed along with a Quooker tap and an Insinkerator waste disposal. This ensured that the kitchen is as practical as it is beautiful.

Katie’s clients are thrilled with their new kitchen.

When the professional couple approached Heart of your Home Kitchens they already had a good idea of the style of kitchen they wanted for their converted barn. As Katie explains: “They were very much looking for a contemporary kitchen without losing the character of the property.

“They saw a page in the 1909 brochure and loved the design, which featured a large centre island, so I pretty much designed the kitchen around that concept.”

When it came to choosing the finishing touches, Katie arranged a customer visit to her suppliers in Durham, where there is a huge 1909 design centre.

The couple were thrilled to be able to see the vast array of 1909 cabinetry, the various colour combinations along with handles and other accessories, commenting: “We were really impressed with the quality.

“We already had a good idea of what we wanted but it was important to be able to see the kitchens in situ, which helped us with a lot of the finer details. Guided by Katie, it also gave us new ideas.”

“One of the main things we were aiming for was to have a light bright kitchen, which we have most definitely achieved. Essentially the same room feels much more spacious.”

Keen cooks, the couple are delighted with their new appliances: “The new kitchen makes cooking an absolute joy! We are experimenting with the new steam oven and the kitchen is so easy to keep clean too.”

The new kitchen is also a family focal point in which they can all spend time: “We’re a big crowd when we all get together but the new kitchen is a great space to relax. We all love it!”

“Katie has been brilliant – she is very positive and while she lets you explore different ideas she will also make suggestions if she thinks she can come up with something better. She suggested different colour combinations for the cabinets and worktops – the worktops in Quartz white marble really lift the whole kitchen making it lighter, just as we had hoped.”

“We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Katie and Heart of your Home Kitchens.”
