PURE LUXURY

Imagine that feeling of warmth and plushness you get from a luxurious wool carpet. Meena McDonald finds out more

Wool is an amazingly indulgent and relevant product for today’s flooring choices. Sheep grow new fleeces every year making wool renewable and recyclable, soft and warm but hard-wearing and naturally fire-retardant.

With a high luxury and comfort level, deep, dense wool pile adds texture whilst insulating your home.

Jacaranda make stunning soft wool carpets and recently launched their new Chatra & Chennai 100 per cent pure wool designs which are hand-woven on traditional wooden looms.

Hand-weaving broadloom is a time-consuming art that requires real skill at each stage. Each roll of Jacaranda handmade carpet passes through at least 130 skilled hands, across 208 hours, over approximately 26 days. They all play their part in creating Jacaranda’s wonderful natural colour bank filled with unique textures and beautiful finishes.

The labour-intensive process allows for the creation of strikingly rich textures and lends itself to truly thick, chunky, characterful designs such as Chatra. Sheep grow fleeces in a wealth of natural shades and Chennai’s random tip-shear pattern is hand-woven from mainly undyed wool tones.

The carpets in these ranges are available in 4m and 5m broadloom and you can also have elegant rugs made to fit whatever size you require for your home.

This artisan practice of hand weaving on traditional wooden looms also allows for the creation of wonderful textures such as Jacaranda’s brand new Jaspur and Jaisalmer pure wool designs.

Jaisalmer is an unusual but subtle linear stripe only achievable by hand and Jaspur is a rich smooth velvet.

Jaspur and Jaisalmer carpets bring warmth, texture and durability as well as bags of character, alongside a colour palette that spans across nine natural tones. Both are suitable for stairs and are heavy contract rated, so ideal for daily footfall. Both are stocked in 4m and 5m broadloom and rugs can be made-to-measure.

Jacaranda are keen to make sure sumptuousness doesn’t take away the durability of your flooring and the wool fibres are naturally coated in lanolin for fire and stain resistance, alongside being renewable and recyclable. They’re also moth-treated during the manufacturing process and provide a five-year guarantee.

Come and see these inspirational ranges and much more in Gainsborough Flooring’s showroom in Preston city centre. You can even visit Gainsborough’s exhibition stand at the Lancashire Business Expo on Friday 3rd April at the Guild Hall in Preston. You’ll get to meet the fantastic team and enter a prize draw to win a gorgeous Mastercraft rug worth £250!
