Since our move to Lytham, Liz and I have found it increasingly difficult to access our local GP services when we have needed them, writes Tedd Walmsley
Two recent incidents meant that we felt compelled to look for alternatives in the private sector and our relationship with Fylde Private Medical was born.
Someone recently gave me a very accurate analogy of liking their ageing body to an older car, you would always have a yearly MOT or service and repairs to avoid a break down and having to call the fourth emergency service! Sadly, we don’t apply this logic to our own bodies. We also can’t trade ourselves in for a newer model when we find ourselves clapped out. I for one am finally taking my health more seriously with the help of the highly qualified and professional team at the private practice I’ve discovered.
Running our own business meant the best option for us was to explore the various corporate membership packages. There are three tiers available for a fixed monthly fee giving access at your convenience to a private GP six days a week and fast diagnostic services if required. There is a plethora of other benefits to this membership which space doesn’t allow me to list but is reassuring to know they are there if and when we may need them.
The practice is based in the heart of Lytham St Annes and there are three floors of state-of-the-art facilities, supported by a dedicated group of professionals using the very best in cutting-edge technology and equipment.
I started with a hugely comprehensive annual MOT which was unhurried and relaxed. The nurse was reassuring and slowly built a picture of my lifestyle through our conversation. She was both empathetic and tactful, and I felt comfortable and looked after throughout the whole process and a follow-up appointment with the doctor was arranged before I left. This 30-minute consultation was invaluable to discuss a multifaceted approach to some of my more challenging test results from my MOT. The outcome of the follow-up included a referral to a specialist and some more tests. I have a further appointment back in St Annes for more blood tests in around six weeks’ time. I can’t stress enough how important it is to look after yourself, particularly if like me, you live a busy, stressful life and are over 60 years old.
I have recommended this package and services to countless friends and acquaintances and I do the same for you too. The care and time spent with me during this process and subsequently with referrals is priceless in my view.
