REBEL YELLOW

We are all well aware that colour can influence our emotions so let’s take a look at how yellow can brighten our day

When furnishing our interiors, we should learn about colour and how it has a positive impact on our wellbeing.

Most of us have a favourite colour – most often it is a colour that evokes pleasant associations and makes us feel good. This is because colours have the power to bring back memories, stimulating the subconscious. Every colour, including white, has its own features, even if our brain does not associate it as a favourite one.

Thanks to the knowledge gathered over the years, we know what colour shades to choose in order to achieve a certain effect.

White has a positive effect on our mood and black calms, while green relaxes. Violet, a mystical colour, is perfect for meditation and is said to alleviate the symptoms of insomnia and blue is believed to have a cooling effect. Going further along the spectrum, we come across shades of red that are said to have a warming effect, which is why red is representative of passion and ambition.

Pink is said to evoke optimism while orange promotes energy and mobilises us.

Yellow, however is a very special colour – the colour of the sun, which almost immediately evokes positive associations. In addition, yellow is one of the most fashionable colours of the moment, especially ‘rebel yellow’ or ‘mustard yellow’.

Why yellow is a good choice for your home
• Yellow evokes joy and optimism. For this reason, it will be the best choice for a child’s room.
• It brightens up thoughts, stimulates the brain and helps memory, so it’s perfect for a study.
• Yellow fights fatigue relieves stress and has a positive effect on your mood, which is why it should be used in the bedroom.
• Yellow gives you a sense of security, warmth and comfort, so it will work well in a room where you spend your free time, to relax and rest.

Contrary to popular belief, yellow goes well with many colour combinations. It looks great in combination with all shades of green – from bright lime to noble emerald. It creates distinct contrasts with white and black, which, depending on the proportions of the colours, can create a minimalist effect with the predominance of white or maximalist effect with the predominance of black. Mustard yellow also goes well with pastel pink as well as a deep, heavy navy blue.
