Reindeer Mystery

In a sleepy town nestled in the heart of the Ribble Valley, someone was busy spreading a little cheer during the festivities

In the run-up to Christmas people in the Ribble Valley awoke to find a delightful herd of small wooden reindeer, hand-crafted with care, had made their way to their doorstep.

The team at Whalley-based LANX, wanted to say a big ‘Merry Christmas’ to the residents of their hometown with a unique handmade gift.

LANX founder Marco Vaghetti explains: ‘‘We get a great deal of support from our local community and wanted to take the opportunity to thank them with a little surprise – our very own festive friend LANXY.

“A couple of Christmases ago, I spotted these charming, handmade wooden reindeer and introduced myself to their creator Gordon. Typically, he only makes around a dozen each year for friends and family, but this year he kindly agreed to create 100 especially for us. We’re very grateful for all the time and effort he’s put into helping us with our mystery mission!”

Each reindeer was beautifully handcrafted with care, using reclaimed wood, pinecones and other natural treasures, which means each reindeer has its own unique character.

To spread the spirit of giving and goodwill LANX also ran a special Christmas competition and charity donation to win a pair of LANX boots and a £500 donation to the winner’s chosen charity.

The delighted winner was Andrya Prescott, who agreed to allow LANX to auction off her LANXY reindeer to raise more money for her chosen charity Safenet – which supports survivors of domestic abuse in Lancashire and Manchester.

And in lieu of giving up LANXY for auction, in addition to the boots that Andrya won, she also got a LANX hat and scarf.

The LANX Go Fund Me page raised over £1,000 while the LANXY auction continued until 15th December. Go to the LANX Instagram page to find out the total amount raised, which will also go to the winner’s chosen charity.
