Rising Star
Lucy Manfredi has been named as the one to watch in the art world and Lancashire gallery Heppletone is delighted to have been exclusively selected to represent her
Renowned gallery Hepplestone Fine Art is thrilled to announce that they have been selected as the UK’s exclusive dealer in the work of Lucy Manfredi – hailed as the rising star of the art world.
A member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art, Lucy has been producing work that is ultimately collectible, as Giles Hepplestone explains: “Lucy’s work is very recognisable and is very much in demand. We are delighted to have signed her!”
Producing both townscapes and figurative work, Lucy comes under the genre broadly known as the Northern School and has been likened to L S Lowry: “Her work is partly whimsical and has a touch of nostalgia about it. It is naïve in style and has an old school Northern charm.”
Often painting elderly ladies wearing glasses in everyday situations, Lucy has been tipped as ‘the one to watch’: “She is one of our great up and coming artists and at the moment her original work is still very accessible. The response we have had in our galleries to Lucy’s work has been outstanding.”
Born in Stockport in 1974, Lucy has had a lifelong fascination with the creative arts, which continued throughout her education. She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in Fine Art Illustration with Animation and went on to complete a Masters in Brighton.
She worked in several artistic sectors before deciding that painting and drawing was her destiny and she now works from her studio in Cheshire.
A master of tone and composition, she captures the humour of Northern life in her paintings and art dealers across the UK have been raving about her work.
“She is becoming the talk of the industry,” adds Giles. “That’s why we expressed such excitement when we were chosen to represent Lucy.
“She was impressed with our extensive experience and our passion – I think our work ethos aligned with hers and she thought we would be the best representatives for her.”
With demand for Northern art currently extremely strong, Lucy’s work has been lauded by well-respected figures within the art world.
Legendary Hale art dealer Bill Clark, well known for showcasing L S Lowry originals, was recently interviewed in the Manchester Evening News. When asked for his tip on who was the current rising star, he named Lucy Manfredi.
Founded in 2005 by father and son team Clive and Giles Hepplestone, the Hepplestone Fine Art Gallery was born from a passion for quality art.
As avid collectors, Clive and Giles have sought to bring affordable and collectable original paintings and high quality limited editions to their galleries in the grounds of Heskin Hall near Chorley and in Wilmslow.
As one of the UK’s leading retail galleries and twice winning the title of ‘Retail Art Gallery of the Year’ from the Fine Art Trade Guild, Hepplestone specialise in original paintings by Northern School artists, of which L S Lowry is probably the best known.
“The work of Lucy Manfredi aligns very well with us as a gallery,” explains Giles. “It was very interesting to hear the interview with Bill Clark who had no hesitation in naming Lucy as a rising star. Her work is getting to be very investible and we are already planning a solo exhibition for 2025.”
