What started as a small, family-run business 36 years ago when his parents first opened the doors to Canterbury Fireplaces, has doubled in size over the past eight years under Lucas Everett’s watchful eye and it is now one of the largest fireplace showrooms in the UK.
The Canterbury team pride themselves on having something to suit every taste, but their unrivalled range of high-end fires and stoves has put them firmly on the map. Set over two floors, with more than 4,000 square feet of showroom, you can see all types of settings in 150 working displays, complete with every imaginable surround and finish.
On visiting the showroom, the latest innovative advancements of the industry are obvious as you take in the newest models from the Solus IX range, complete with holographic flames which almost look more authentic than the real thing. The Solus electric range boasts cutting edge technology and along with instant heat, the fires can be customised with pre-set themes and choice of front, corner or panoramic aspects to best suit the setting – the range is also designed to be part of the increasingly popular media wall installations which Canterbury offer.
The Vision Trimline range has been designed with the specific purpose of recreating an instinctive connectivity with nature. The innovative fires are skilfully engineered to allow a true trimless aspect, with no distracting frames or visible workings, just fire, making them ideal for situating anywhere in the home.
The iconic Danish brand RAIS, as Lucas explains, is one of their most exciting collaborations to date: “We were recently invited to the RAIS showroom in Denmark for the release of the new range and we were blown away – they really are the Rolls Royce of the stove world and are fully customisable to our customers’ taste. There’s even an app where the stove can be virtually placed in your room at home so you can see it in situ and adjust the colours and fittings to your exact specifications.”

“Our focus has changed over recent years as we saw the need for a more complete service. We offer fully tailored solutions – effectively holding hands with the customer through the whole installation process.
“Media walls have become increasingly popular, so we offer a full installation service and create bespoke joinery to create them around the fire – we often work with interior designers, architects and builders as part of overall home projects.”
