SHINING EXAMPLE

Purpose-built to cater for little ones, Pendle Court Day Nursery and Pre-school is a shining example of a secure, childcare environment which promotes learning through play

A superb purpose-built nursery is leading the way in childcare thanks to its outstanding facilities. The spacious Pendle Court Day Nursery and Pre-shool, on the outskirts of Barrowford, is located in an ideal position near to the motorway and major road networks.

Easily accessible and with on-site parking, the nursery has been well thought out on every level with four large age-appropriate classrooms, each having their own secure outdoor play areas that can be inter-linked creating a free-flowing space.

With full under-floor heating and floor to ceiling windows, this is a vibrant, light and airy space where children can play and learn in complete safety.

In the ‘shoe-free’ baby zone for newborns up to 18 months there is a tranquil sleep room and a messy play area. The two to three-year-olds have their own free flow space to their own outdoor area, whilst inside they have access to all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Pre-schools also have their own separate open plan space which opens out onto an outdoor area with sandpits, sunken tyres and mud kitchen. Children are encouraged to learn through play and there is also a specialist Early Years professional who works with children in their pre-school year, focusing on ICT, mathematics and writing.

There is also a term-time facility for two to five-year-olds.

With a capacity of up to 140 children, Pendle Court Day Nursery has a team of 38 qualified childcare experts who are all trained to minimum Level 3 and above with each also qualifying in paediatric first aid, giving the nursery the respected Millie’s Mark standard.

All on ground floor level, Pendle Court is run by owner Louise Wilkinson, who for 11 years ran Lomeshaye Village Day Nursery, which received an ‘outstanding’ OFSTED rating, before deciding to build her own purpose-built premises.

This state-of-the-art facility is fully enclosed, has fingerprint ID entrance access, making it totally secure so parents have total peace of mind. Each child is also assigned a key worker, who monitors and encourages their development.

The outdoor spaces include a mini allotment where children can plant and grow their own herbs, fruit and vegetables, which are either used in the healthy meals cooked on site, or they can take home with simple recipe cards.

Activities also include baby yoga, Hartbeeps, dancing, Spanish with Bilinguasing and football.

“We have had some fantastic feedback from parents,” says Louise, who also runs a holiday club for four to 11-year-olds at Pendle Court.

“We are unusual in that we are a purpose-built nursery and being just on the edge of Barrowford, we are easily accessible. Pendle Court Nursery took a great deal of planning but we are thrilled with it!”
