It is very hard to believe that we may finally be coming to the end of our enforced exile from our favourite restaurants, writes Simon Smith
The team at Yu Copster Green are really excited about greeting friends, old and new, back to their delightful contemporary restaurant and cocktail bar.
They have been incredibly innovative during lockdown with inspired Yu at Home boxes, which Victor carefully assembled and which were simply amazing! The food was easy to prepare, tasted awesome and the portions very generous – such a welcome break during the long cold winter days. I also believe that they have been incredibly generous quietly supporting local charities with food!
So, on 17th May hopefully our restaurants will be opening their doors to welcome us in with open arms. Yu, the iconic and award-winning Chinese restaurant at Copster Green will be eager to greet you!
Nothing can beat the welcome at the Yu cocktail bar, a warm greeting and the chance to enjoy a couple of delicious modern cocktails in a stunning and vibrant environment. The bar and restaurant are superbly furnished creating a relaxed and very special place to be.
A team of well trained, knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand, determined to make your visit extra special.
In these difficult times they will also ensure that your visit is as safe as possible, so you can relax and enjoy this delightful Chinese experience. Head chef Victor is renowned for his modern and inspired cooking of dishes traditional and new, and he has won numerous awards and accolades demonstrating just what a master of his craft he is. Such delicacies as Wagyu beef wok seared with lime, chilli, garlic and ginger – this is an indulgent and very special dish! Give it a whirl, after all we have been in lockdown for a year!
Chicken, succulent in bamboo leaves, honey roasted Char Sui pork, and amazing Dim Sum are some of our menu favourites, but if you want a chicken curry then Victor’s dad Charlie Yu must make the best one around!
So, whilst checking out head chef Victor’s latest menu, composed from fabulous fresh ingredients, sipping aperitifs, you can also choose a delicious bottle of wine from a lovely selection to enjoy with the great food. All this will be very exciting given the long fast we have all endured.
It is a time to celebrate the coming of summer, get out the smartest outfits and let your hair down, safely of course. We mustn’t forget the terrible sacrifices and losses of the pandemic so if we are asked to wear a mask let’s do so with a good heart and a smile on our faces!
Enjoy your return to gastronomy, these wonderful businesses deserve our support to recover. I personally won’t be cooking another beans on toast for a while!
