A company built on traditions is a company that’s built to last and that can certainly be said about Russkell Furniture, a handmade furniture company that was first established over 40 years ago.
Lancashire man Kenneth Stott opened the doors to the Russkell Furniture factory in Darwen in 1972, specialising in bespoke furniture using hardwood beech frames, the most durable leathers and fabrics, and the very highest quality local craftsmanship.
A family business through and through, it soon developed an enviable reputation, putting the needs of their customers and attention to detail high on their agenda. Russkell Furniture soon became the first port of call for those in search of custom-built, long lasting, quality sofas and chairs.
The independent business continued to prosper, but it wasn’t until November last year that the decision was made to expand to incorporate a welcoming showroom from which to showcase their beautiful wares. Huntley’s Country Stores off the A59 at Samlesbury was chosen as the destination for the new shop thanks to its friendly environment, and work got underway to create a warm space complete with room sets, sumptuous sofas and gorgeous furnishings and accessories.
Every piece in the shop has been specially handpicked to complement Russkell’s furniture, which can be individually made in your choice of materials and finishes to match your desired shape, size and style.
The experience of wandering around the shop is one that you won’t want to end. As Russkell Furniture’s employee Lydia says, it’s the perfect blend of old meets new.
“Customers often talk about how unique everything is. Items like the red telephone box-shaped wine holder attract so many comments, but whilst that’s one of our most unusual products, there’s an array of home interiors with something to appeal to all tastes and budgets,” said Lydia.
