SKIPTON’S HIDDEN GEMS

In the centre of Skipton is a veritable treasure trove of antiques and collectables just waiting to be discovered, writes Cheryl Thompson

Whether you’re a serious collector or just someone who loves a wander down Memory Lane, a visit to Skipton Antiques Centre is time well spent. Situated in the Old Foundry in the heart of Skipton are four floors overflowing with art, china, furniture, jewellery and a huge range of collectables from days gone by.

Over 30 dealers from all over the north of England trade from the historic building, which is all open plan, making browsing simple. In one area, you’ll find Victorian kitchenware, in the next, period furniture. Retro collectables nestle alongside fine china and Art Deco, while a few more steps lead you to a collection of vintage jewellery and clocks.

Leisurely browsing is positively encouraged, with customers free to wander around without any pressure. Help is on hand should you need it and experts will answer any queries you may have and value any items you may wish to sell.

Dealers from all over the world come here, travelling from America, China, Ireland and Australia in search of a gem or two to take back home. Perhaps it’s time you discovered it for yourself!
