MICRO-PIGMENTATION
Micro-pigmentation introduces natural colour pigmentation into the skin using a super-fine needle. The procedure at JL Aesthetics is carried out by Joseph Lanzante, who has undergone the procedure himself and was so impressed that he has qualified as a micro-pigmentation expert practitioner, training in Harley Street, London.
Joseph recalls: “I had no hair at all. Now it looks like I have a really close crew cut. Even close-up, it’s impossible to tell that it has been created with micro-pigmentation – thousands of tiny dots across the scalp. After about five years it may fade and a top-up may be needed but it fades with the natural skin tone due to the pigment used.”
Joseph can carefully build up colour on a client’s scalp with thousands of tiny dots of pigmentation to give depth and create the illusion of density. It can be applied to thinning areas or smooth surfaces to give a stubble effect.
As well as creating the illusion of a close crew cut, the micro-pigmentation procedure can be used to create hair that appears thicker and fuller by infilling gaps, or wide partings, in both men and women.
The procedure has proved particularly popular with footballers and celebrities and those who have had hair transplants: “The younger generation are much more aware of their looks and what is available to enhance them,” says Joseph.
