Step Into The Story At This Historic Hall

Steeped in history yet with modern-day facilities, Samlesbury Hall is a major tourist destination that is set to come alive this Christmas!

In the run up to the festive season it’s all about Christmas at Samlesbury Hall with a host of events planned over the coming weeks.

With free parking, the historic hall forms a stunning backdrop, where visitors will be given a truly warm welcome.

CHRISTMAS LUNCHES
In the Heritage Café Christmas lunches will be served from 23rd November to 23rd December and, for groups of 20 or more, festive lunches will be served in the magnificent Great Hall in front of a roaring log fire – what better way to start the seasonal celebrations! Pre-booking is essential.

LA BOHÈME
Traditionally decorated with Christmas trees from the end of November, the Great Hall is also set to host a performance of Puccini’s La Bohème by Outreach Opera on 12th December – this promises to be a fabulous evening of music against the historic backdrop of the hall. Mulled wine and hot mince pies will be served. Tickets are available through the website.

SUNDAY TOURS
Samlesbury’s usual Sunday tours will take place on the 5th and 12th December and as always, will be free of charge. Join Spooky Simon Entwistle, or wicked witch Janey as they take you around the atmospheric hall.

THE LADY IN WHITE
Samlesbury Hall presents The Lady in White – a ghost story for Christmas and a promenade theatre play designed for families and lovers of spooky tales. Travel back in time as a tragic love story comes vividly to life in the candlelit hallways of Lancashire’s most haunted house. The Lady in White combines live actors and theatrical storytelling to present a seasonal Christmas play which tells the 16th century tale of Lady Dorothy Southworth – the hall’s most famous ghost. Step into the story as the action unfolds around you in this promenade performance with a little festive fright! Presented on 13th, 14th, 16th, 19th, 20th and 23rd December. Tickets available online.

DOTTIE’S WAFFLERY
The wafflery at Samlesbury Hall is incredibly popular throughout the year. Famed for its decadent desserts, mouth-watering milkshakes, cakes, local ice-cream and speciality teas and coffee, at Christmas visitors can expect super-seasonal waffles and gingerbread hot chocolate!

CHRISTMAS FAIR & MARKET
With more than 50 stalls, the Samlesbury Hall Christmas Fair will feature hot food throughout the day and a whole host of local vendors. A great opportunity to buy unusual Christmas gifts and to experience all the hall has to offer. The fair is to be held on 28th November with free entry.

TAPAS AT THE HERITAGE CAFÉ
The Heritage Café will be decked out in a suitably seasonal manner and, as usual, will be serving tapas on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. The café is also open daily for breakfasts and lunches (Tuesday to Sunday).

CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Events and experiences at Samlesbury Hall make lovely Christmas gifts – why not buy afternoon tea for a loved one or tickets to one of the forthcoming Clairvoyant Evenings? A seasonal gift that will truly be appreciated!

To give the hard-working team a well-earned rest over Christmas, Samlesbury Hall will close on Christmas Eve and re-open on 9th January 2022
