Swiftly & Effectively…

Responding to the needs of the local community, Spire Fylde Coast Hospital delivers a private GP service, which is rapidly expanding as patients opt to bypass the increasing NHS waiting lists and instead, seek support from a private GP.

Spire Fylde Coast Hospital can provide a comprehensive diagnostic service and specialist treatments with fast access to high quality healthcare, enabling patients to receive the care they require and carry on with their normal, everyday lives.

Dr Farzaneh Mani, Spire GP, commented: “With a combination of people still struggling to get appointments with their own GP and receive the treatment they need, they are turning to us. We can deal with these patients quickly and effectively at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital through our treatment pathways and specialist healthcare.”

There is complete continuity of care for all patients. Dr Mani explains: “It’s important that the patient’s own GP is made aware of any diagnosis, treatment requirements or referrals, so with the patient’s consent we will make contact with their GP to ensure nothing vital is missed. To speed up treatments we can refer patients internally for blood tests, scans and consultant referrals.”

In March 2021 Spire Fylde Coast Hospital unveiled a new state-of-the-art MRI scanner to speed up diagnosis for patients with cancer and other diseases. With an increase in demand for this particular imaging modality and MRI scanning being less invasive than other scanning alternatives, it was the ideal choice, providing consistently high-quality diagnostic images and workflows to improve each patient’s experience.

The new machine delivers a much-improved patient experience with reduced scan times and a wider machine, adding to patient comfort, especially for those who are claustrophobic.

Shabana Iftikhar, Diagnostic Imaging Manager at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital, adds: “The MRI scanner can be used to examine almost any part of the body including the brain and spinal cord, bones and joints, breasts, heart and blood vessels, as well as internal organs like the liver, womb or prostate gland.”

Results are delivered quickly and therefore treatment is implemented much faster for patients whilst ensuring the highest level of care.

The scanner represents a £1.5m investment by Spire Healthcare and enables up to 25 patients a day, five days a week to be scanned and detect cancers, cardiac disease and urgent neurological, gynaecological, spinal and orthopaedic conditions.

As investment in Spire Fylde Coast Hospital continues, the team is now considering a new MRI cardiac service for their patients.

Those individuals wishing to access private healthcare services also have the option of zero per cent finance for a 12-month period, through the hospital.
