Mezzo is an authentic Italian restaurant in Samlesbury in the heart of Lancashire. The name Mezzo is Italian for ‘half’ as it is located halfway between Preston and Blackburn, right on the doorstep of many of our Ribble Valley villages such as Mellor and Balderstone. The beautiful modern interior of Mezzo is sleek and chic throughout, comprising of a spacious lounge bar and a 130-cover restaurant, which is spread across various levels. Combining polished wooden floors with silver grey walls and leather seating, including high-backed booths and cosy banquettes, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.

Mezzo is a family-run business, established by Giuliano and Lynda Atzeni and now run by daughter Lucie and son and chef Robert. “My father was from Sardinia and there is still very much a Sardinian theme running through our menu, such as the traditional Sardinian suckling pig,” Lucie tells me.

Lots of seafood specials feature at Mezzo, including lobster pasta and Dover sole, and the team pride themselves on providing a wonderfully balanced menu using fresh produce that is brought in daily. There is also a lovely selection of Sardinian wines on offer, including the Cannonau di Sardegna red and the Vermentino di Sardegna white.

Mezzo has a tempting cocktail list – perfect for celebrations, including the very appropriately named ‘Italian Job’ featuring Amaretto, Galliano and orange juice. The venue can also be used as a luxurious setting for a corporate meeting, with a large projector system available, good use of which was made for all the recent football!

The new roof terrace is a fabulous addition to the restaurant. It is a beautiful space for parties with its fairy lights and palm trees, plus heaters and umbrellas to make it even more inviting and useable. “We’re so excited about the roof terrace, it really opens up the space upstairs so we have a perfect venue for special events, from small weddings to large birthday parties and christenings,” Lucie enthuses. “The terrace is a lovely space to be in, and it’s absolutely beautiful when the sun is shining – a great additional area to enjoy your party.”

Lucie is also looking forward to the new dimension the roof terrace adds to Mezzo for entertainment: “We are going to have some live music nights up there too, and clients can have live bands playing now at their events, or they can use our Bluetooth speakers to bring their own playlist.”

There are many different options available for catering for events at Mezzo, from arranging your own buffet to a range of delicious Italian packages such as pizza and antipasti platters. Get in touch to find out more!
