The Freemasons Forges on into 2018

Following a hugely successful 12 months exciting new plans are underway to make 2018 another eventful year

As you read this the festive season will have brought 2017 to an end with lots of excitement, joy and hard work. The Freemasons’ year has been another monumental success – new accolades and awards made 2017 a year to remember for Steve Smith and his talented team.

The highlight at the end of the year, the ‘AA Restaurant of the Year’, was awarded to the Freemasons – this award recognises cuisine of a truly excellent standard, demonstrating innovation and ambience of the highest quality.

In addition to the Sunday Times Top 100, Number One Pub, Top 50 in the Good Food Guide and many others, Steve and his team are delighted and very proud of the Freemasons’ latest achievement. You may think they would be happy to carry on as usual and bask in some of the glory, but that’s not what they do, and the year ahead looks very exciting.

The first quarter of 2018 will see a slight change – in response to demand, the Freemasons will be open into the New Year with only a couple of days off.

So, if you’ve never tried the Freemasons, give yourself a treat before you go back to work. Why not take a lovely walk in the beautiful Wiswell countryside and finish with a fabulous lunch or supper? What a great way to start the New Year!

The innovative new menu to celebrate the start of 2018 and carry on the excitement of winning such a coveted award, has been carefully crafted by Steve and shows just how progressive and creative the cooking at this great pub really is.

In March a special evening with the chefs from the AA Restaurants of the Year, Wales, London and Scotland are coming together with the team at the Freemasons to celebrate their success, an evening you really should not miss!

However, while all the excitement of awards and accolades is fabulous, we must not forget that, as a local pub the Freemasons is great value for money with superb Sunday and weekday lunches and evening food at really accessible prices. Keep a look out for the special menus on offer – yes you really can have a fantastic three-course Sunday lunch for just £29.95 and lunch during the week with award-winning food also offers great value and amazing quality!

This year promises to be exciting on another front as plans are in the pipeline for a new kitchen and four letting bedrooms. Watch this space as events unfold.

The early part of the year sees many important events with Burns Night, an early Easter and Mother’s Day all falling into a very busy three month period – book now so you don’t miss out!

It continues to amaze me that this fabulous place, which looks like a tiny tucked-away village pub, is so spacious and welcoming. Offering the ambience of roaring fires, great beers, wines and food, the Freemasons is a must-try place to understand the warm hospitality on offer.
