THE WOW FACTOR!

Ever-evolving with new ideas, the Black Bull at Old Langho have launched their weekly Chef’s Specials – giving their chefs the chance to spread their wings and express their own personal style of cooking.

Head Chef John Dawson and soux chefs Michael Butler and Jacob Batchelor have already created a line-up of dishes to much acclaim: “The Chef’s Specials give the chefs creative freedom to be innovative and when their dish is paired up with a fine wine by our sommelier and manager Katherine Renhard, it makes things really special!” explains Rebecca Govier, who runs the inn with husband Jamie.

To date the Chef’s Specials have included mussel and prawn linguine in white wine and garlic cream with toasted French stick, a Goosnargh duck breast with fondant potato and glazed beets in a red wine jus and a corn fed chicken, ham hock and leek pie with suet crust – all equally delicious!

Head Chef John has also created a beautifully delicate seared fillet of sea bass with king prawn risotto with pancetta, which has proved particularly popular when paired with a wine selected by qualified sommelier Katherine.

The Chefs Specials are continuing and November will also see new seasonal dishes that can be seen on the specials board along with an enhanced wine menu, keeping the menu fresh and innovative.

Extending the festive period so that more diners can enjoy the Black Bull, every day throughout December will be Christmas day at the inn, which will be fabulously decked out with twinkling lights and festive wreaths, with Christmas lunch and a festive menu served each day!

Another new development at the pub is a new covered outdoor seating area that is heated so diners can dine out 365 days a year!

Jamie explains: “It’s a rustic outdoor area that will really blend in with the wood-cladded bar area in the interior of the pub.”

With all safety measures in place, including a premium track and trace machine, guests can enjoy a totally relaxed experience in stunning surroundings.

Always looking at ways they can improve their offering, Jamie and Rebecca have also been looking at how they can help home-workers get the most out of the inn’s facilities: “We are mindful that during these times, people’s mental health can suffer. So, we are inviting home-workers to come and have a coffee, bring their laptop, and work alongside others in a socially distanced environment. It’s a healthy escape from being alone.”
