TIME TO CELEBRATE

With Father’s Day and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee almost here it’s time to celebrate – and The White Bull in Gisburn is the perfect place to be, writes Gail Bailey. Photography: Kirsten Platt

There are celebratory events across the whole of the UK in June, and Ribble Valley village Gisburn will be celebrating in style: “The Young Farmers have lots of festivities planned for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the Bank Holiday weekend,” owner of The White Bull Lee Hughes explains. “To mark the occasion we have organised some special treats for our customers to enjoy at The White Bull too.”

Throughout the whole of the weekend customers can enjoy ‘Brunch with Bottomless Bubbles’ between 10am and 12 noon and later in the day a fabulous afternoon tea for only £14.95 – perfect!

“We have entertainment at The White Bull all weekend, including the wonderfully talented vocalist Ella Shaw on Thursday 2nd June. Britain’s Got Talent star Ella is a favourite at the inn, and we’re really looking forward to her being here again,” explains Lee.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, new dad Lee says: “We want this one to be special!”

A special three-course dinner menu has been created and orders for Tomahawks and T-bones are, as expected, already coming in for when they’ll be perfectly dry aged.

The meat fridge on display in the dining room is, indeed, impressive and customers can view the meat ageing in front of them whilst they visit: “We are blessed to be working with local farmers who themselves are big family people that have had a tough time through the pandemic,” Lee says.

“Provenance is everything and by personally being on these farms I can see that the livestock is cared for as ethically as possible and can trust the traceability of the meat that goes onto the plate. This is so important on such a special weekend when you’re spending time with family and celebrating the person you call dad.”

To book a fizzy bottomless brunch, an elegant afternoon tea or a fabulous Father’s Day treat contact Lee and his team: “We are excited about all the upcoming celebrations – it’s been a difficult last two years for everyone during the pandemic,” Lee says. “Now it’s time to raise a glass and celebrate with family and friends.”
