Outstanding independent school, Ashbridge, has plenty to celebrate this year with the opening of a new forest school inspired nursery and first-class inspection results, writes Sarah de Waard
Founded in 1995, Ashbridge Independent School is an exceptional school and nursery set in 11 acres of picturesque countryside in the pretty village of Hutton near Preston.
In a recent early years’ inspection by ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) Ashbridge was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in every area, and it’s clear to see why. With its excellent facilities, childcare and teaching expertise, the school offers a top class education for children from three months to 11 years, with an emphasis, not only on academic attainment, but also confidence and an enjoyment of school life.
The school has recently unveiled a floodlit multi-sport all weather pitch, which has enabled the children to enjoy a huge variety of sports, and a newly appointed coach will ensure that the children get the highest-quality sports provision.
Ashbridge is also expanding its early years offering this year, with a new nursery opening in Cottam in September.
Following on from the success of its three nursery sites at Hutton, Ashbridge on Ribble and The Fledglings at Myerscough College, Ashbridge at Maxy Farm will cater for children from three months to four years. Set in a rural location with extensive facilities, the new site will meet the needs of young children through a nurturing, active learning and forest school approach.
Communication and Compliance Officer Charlotte Bingham Brindle tells me: “At Ashbridge we have an outdoor learning ethos and this will be very much at the heart of Maxy Farm. Our core management team has recently returned from a trip to Finland and Sweden where they saw first-hand how successful outdoor focused early years childcare is, and we look forward to continuing that philosophy at Ashbridge.
“Four hundred trees have already been planted on site and there will be a strong emphasis on outdoor exploration, natural resources and open-ended play and learning.”
Ashbridge-on-Ribble nursery manager Julie Fazackerley will be bringing her expertise to the new site, alongside a talented team of current and new staff who understand the Ashbridge ethos.
The school will be holding open days on 24th October and 9th November when parents are welcome to come and look at the facilities available, although tours are available at any time.
