Having already experienced the Original Bathroom Company’s bespoke service when they installed two bathrooms in their country home, Sharon and Andy Bell returned to them once again when they planned to transform the ground floor of their property, installing a new kitchen, utility and downstairs cloakroom.

“We were so impressed with them,” says Andy. “When the Original Bathroom Company started doing kitchens as well, they were the obvious choice!”

The retired couple, who have four children between them, admit their previous kitchen was outdated and way too small. Their aim was to create a living space that was practical yet beautiful – a social hub that was workable and comfortable.

When they initially approached the Original Bathroom Company owner Angela Clark, it was evident that it would be a major project to remodel the kitchen of the semi-detached four-bedroom home in Hutton.

Walls were knocked down opening up a living room creating a totally open-plan area and the former kitchen was transformed into a utility room.

“It was a big project for us,” explains Angela. “It is a total transformation but everything went exceptionally smoothly.”

“We had previously installed two bathrooms – a main family bathroom and en-suite that are both very contemporary. However on the ground floor Sharon and Andy opted for something more traditional.”

The couple chose solid oak hand-painted cabinetry from the Mereway Oak English Revival Classic Collection in two shades of grey with black granite worktops speckled with blue and grey.

Glass grey splashbacks complement the units and worktops and at the heart of the kitchen is a large central island that acts as a focal point with a state-of-the-art Siemens extractor above.

Underfloor heating throughout and ceiling down-lighters add to the ambience in the kitchen while new windows afford views across the property’s extensive gardens and patio.

The Bells opted for a Siemens Americanstyle fridge freezer alongside an integrated dishwasher, washing machine, induction hob, warming drawer and two state-of-the-art ovens and combination microwaves.

“One of the reasons we went back to the Original Bathroom Company is that they really listen to you. We explained what we would like and they came up with the perfect solution,” agreed Andy and Sharon, who also wanted to create a downstairs cloakroom, which features a shower room, in a more traditional style to tie in with the kitchen and utility.

Using their tried and trusted installers Bluestone Horizons and APG Domestic Services, Angela adds: “It has totally changed the property and Andy and Sharon are delighted with the results.”

The kitchen is now the heart of the home, as Andy and Sharon explain: “It has made a massive difference and we are over the moon with it!

“We wanted a kitchen that would last for years and this is such good quality. When we are entertaining we now stay in the kitchen even though we have a dining room.”

“We are absolutely thrilled with the way the Original Bathroom Company has transformed the ground floor of the house. It really has the wow factor!”
