Tucked away in nine acres of beautiful Ribble Valley countryside is a thriving business that attracts people from around the world.
Canine Health and Hydro has just been Awarded ‘Outstanding’ Canine Hydrotherapy Centre 2017 runner-up in the UK by the Canine Hydrotherapy Association and is the north’s largest centre for the specialist rehabilitation of dogs.
The centre is also home to the International Groom School that sees students from Europe, India, Dubai, the US and throughout the UK come to train here.
Canine Health and Hydro is run by Steven Maney and his wife Poppy, who runs the International Groom School. She is one of only 40 Internationally Certified Master Groomers (ICMG) giving the school exclusive status for learners.
The business is quite literally split into two halves, one housing Canine Health and Hydro with its hydrotherapy pool, super-effective water treadmills and high tech K-laser unit. The other half of the building is dedicated to the groom school, which is a surprisingly quiet and calm hive of activity, as there are usually at least eight dogs being groomed by students at any one time.
Opening this month there will be a third dimension to the business – a purpose-built canine photography facility as Steve explains: “When the dogs have been groomed or been swimming they are usually totally relaxed so we find that the shots we get are a lot more fun and natural, which really reflects the dog’s nature and character.”
Perfect as a Christmas gift, the photographs reflect Steven’s highly-tuned dog skills that enables him to get the perfect shot. In the run-up to the festive season, there is a special 50 per cent discount offer on canine photography.
