Voted Best in the North West!

The well-established east Lancashire business that is the Shajan, has increased in popularity since its humble beginning as an 85-seat restaurant in 1992.

Mr Ali, restaurant owner says: “It’s hard to believe that it is going to be 25 years soon.”

In an economy where many other restaurants have failed, Shajan has thrived. It has become so popular over the years, it has expanded twice and now accommodates 205 seated diners.

With two private rooms of 65 and 50 seats, including a projector screen if required and the main room with a 90 seat capacity, the restaurant is highly capable of handling larger parties for weddings, special occasions and corporate meetings.

“Some would say our survival is a tribute to our hard work. We are trying to establish a record of giving good food, excellent service and reasonable prices,” says Mr Ali, who has certainly managed to achieve his goal.

Customers come from far and wide to eat at Shajan, even from Bradford, the curry capital of Great Britain! This bears witness to the authenticity of dishes served here. Mr Ali employs chefs from Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. He even prepares and mixes the spices himself.

Shajan’s good reputation is long-standing and well deserved. They have maintained their high standards and kept to their promise of delivering the kind of authentic Indian dishes they would enjoy at home. Food is certainly key to their success. Many loyal and regular customers return time and time again to enjoy it.

There is a comfortable lounge where friends can gather to have a drink before dining or settle for informal coffees after their meal.

“A good ambience, good service and quality food without any compromise is my aim,” says Mr Ali. “We would like to thank all of our loyal customers and look forward to your continuing support.”

To celebrate 25 successful years of serving arguably the best curry dishes in the region, November will see a week of special celebratory menus, with exciting new dishes for both regular and new customers to try.

Remember to book in advance, especially on Saturdays which are very busy. If you are a new customer, or a curry connoisseur, you will surely enjoy your visit to Shajan Indian Restaurant!
