WHALLEY’S HIDDEN GEM

Tucked away on Back King Street, Artisan One is a fabulous shop and workshop that caters for all your framing needs and much more, writes Gail Bailey

A warm welcome and excellent customer service awaits at Artisan One from owners Dave and Melanie Finch.

Dave has been involved in the picture framing profession for nearly 20 years, originally working with his father in a former shop in Whalley.

“This property began as a workshop but in 2009 we started trading as Artisan One offering a complete service to both trade and retail,” Dave explains.

That service includes supplying and framing, ready-made frames, re-glazing and more recently has developed into selling a range of beautiful greeting cards, hand-painted wooden children’s gifts, mirrors, prints, scrabble frames and lots more.

“We work with artists and photographers across the North West and the business is a real family affair. My wife Melanie now works here, and all of our five children have been involved one way or another over the years too!” adds Dave.

The shop recently did all the framing for the Children in Need DIY SOS Big Build at St Silas’s Church in Blackburn: “It was an amazing experience and a wonderful project to be involved in,” Melanie says.

Artisan One truly is worth a visit – a real hidden treasure in the village!
