Cosy Homes in Lancashire, a local authority affordable warmth initiative, has teamed up with Global Energy Systems to give one lucky household the chance to win a brand new, fully installed air source heat pump worth £20,000.
The latest alternative to the traditional gas boiler, it is estimated to be up to three times more energy efficient, significantly cheaper to run and have a much lower carbon footprint thanks to its renewable energy source – heat from the outside air.
Global Energy Systems is a British manufacturer located in Lytham in Lancashire with 50 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. A Global Energy heat pump provides central heating and hot water and reduces carbon emissions by up to 60 per cent. Its heat pump is designed specifically to work with the UK climate and outperform gas, electric and oil systems for the duration of their 25-year life.
ABOUT COSY HOMES IN LANCASHIRE
Cosy Homes in Lancashire, which represents 14 Lancashire councils, has secured a £41m government-backed funding pot to help residents make their homes more energy efficient. Known as the Home Upgrade Grant, or HUGS, the average grant received per eligible household is expected to be around £18,800, with measures to include: renewable heating technologies, solar PV, insulation, and upgrading single glazed windows to double glazing units, as well as air source heat pumps from Global Energy Systems.
Applicants for a HUGS grant have to meet specific eligibility criteria, details of which can be found on the Cosy Homes in Lancashire website: chil.uk.com
PROPERTIES ELIGIBLE FOR HUGS ARE:
• Within a qualifying postcode area (check the website) or low-income households less than £36,000 per annum
• Not heated by gas central heating – properties heated by electric, gas fires/wall heaters, oil or LPG will qualify
• Energy inefficient with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) between D and G.

This competition is open to all households in Lancashire, not just those that qualify for a Home Upgrade Grant from Cosy Homes in Lancashire. Only one entry per household will be valid. Entrants have to be 18 years or over and the prize is non transferable or redeemable for cash equivalent. The prize will be fully installed by Global Energy Systems with a welcome pack but once installed is the full and unequivocal responsibility of the homeowner for its upkeep and maintenance. As standard, the heat pump will have a standard warranty guarantee. Upgraded warranties are available to purchase direct and are not included in the prize. No further correspondence will be entered into following successful installation. This is a Global Energy Systems competition and not Cosy Homes in Lancashire who are the Home Upgrade Grant provider only.
