WINE WEB GOES LIVE

The Whalley Wine Shop is celebrating eight successful years in business and has always prided itself on taking a modern and innovative approach to the traditional wine industry, and nothing says that like the recent growth of their digital marketing.

“We wanted our new website to be a complete hub of information for our customers – everything from our history and backstory, to exactly what we’re serving by the glass that week. It’s also been a key part of our long-term plan to start selling through the website so that’s definitely something to look forward to over the summer,” explains Tom Jones.

The revamped website allows customers to check on special offers, find details of wines being served by the glass, it has an updated monthly wine blog and also lists what’s available through the new Enomatic ‘Elite’ tasting machine that was installed last month.

“Looking ahead to the summer and we have just released the next of our seasonal ‘Quaffable Cases’ – £75 for 12 bottles of great everyday drinking wine. We will definitely be adding these to the website soon. The cases make a great gift or a perfect way to restock the wine rack without breaking the bank,” adds Tom.

Not only has summer introduced the latest seasonal case but the shop is looking ahead to the annual tasting event held at the Eagle at Barrow on 1st July.

“We hold two big ‘walk around’ tastings every year as a chance for people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. At just £15 per person the event is a great chance to sample over 80 different wines and selected gins.”

“It is a really accessible event and you don’t have to be a connoisseur to attend and enjoy. We invite along some of our best suppliers and producers who can give a real insight into each wine and encourage you to explore options you might not have tried at home.”

The Whalley Wine Shop is now well established on the Whalley high street. With regular pop up tastings, numerous wines by the glass and knowledgeable staff on hand there is a lovely social atmosphere to explore and discover new wines.

Tom’s Top Rosé Pick For Summer
From Chateau d’Esclans, the makers of the famous Whispering Angel rosé, comes the upgraded big brother – Rock Angel. Although expensive, the quality is absolutely superb.
A blend of Grenache and Vermentino has created a fabulously elegant and delicate pale rosé with a rarely seen depth of mineral notes and texture. A stunning rosé for summer!
Price: £31.99 a bottle or £175 for a case of six.
