YEARLING PARADES

Jason Fildes of Highclere’s Northern Syndicate reports on Highclere’s renowned Yearling Parades in what is an impressive setting

Every October we hold the famous Highclere Yearling Parades at Highclere Stud in the grounds of the castle.

It is the first opportunity to see our new crop of yearlings who will begin their racing career in 2020. It’s always a very sociable event in an amazing setting, starting with champagne from the sponsor, Tattinger, a close-up look at the horses with Harry Herbert and John Warren, followed by a fabulous lunch by the chef Clodagh McKenna.

The event was held over two days and on hand were trainers John Gosden, William Haggas, Roger Varian, Andrew Balding and Richard Hannon as well as over 400 Highclere owners. There were the most gorgeous looking yearlings – in my eyes a filly by Invincible Spirit, to be trained at Middleham by Mark Johnston, was the star of the show!
