Live Ribble Valley catches up with Freemasons’ head chef Matt Smith after a busy Christmas period, before entering the coming New Year
I was keen to see what 2025 had in store for the wonderful Freemasons that we are so lucky to have within the Ribble valley. Head chef Matt Smith ran me step by step through the New Year offerings, which will see the Freemasons re-open its doors for dinner on the 8th January after a well-deserved break for both front of house and kitchen teams.
Starting January through to March, the Freemasons’ set menu for both lunch and dinner will create options for every appetite and budget.
The ever-popular early supper and lunch menus, priced generously at £37.50, will have some delightful additions and for couples and groups wanting to sample the essence of Matt’s culinary team’s flair, the ‘Taste of Freemasons’ tasting menu priced at £85 per person, is a must.
The Freemasons’ Sunday lunch, that incredible British institution, priced at £47 per person, remains incredibly popular with early booking essential to secure your Sunday treat!

When it comes to private dining, there’s no better place than the Freemasons. The Chef’s Table, which seats up to 12 people, allows diners to eat and drink in full view of the busy open kitchen. Bespoke dining packages start at £50 per head, tailored to your wishes.
The kitchen bench, which seats up to four people, is another option for a front-row seat dining experience.
Upstairs there’s the Shoot Room, the Portrait Room and the Gun Room, which all cater for different private party numbers, tailored to your needs.
Andrew Thompson, along with his front of house team, will be there to welcome you warmly, as always, which is very much what the Freemasons is all about – a total dining experience.
