Royal visit to Blackpool
Blackpool will welcome a Royal visit this October to commemorate the 125th birthday of the resort’s two famous landmarks, the Blackpool Grand Theatre and The Blackpool Tower. Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex GCVO will be coming to the town to meet some of the people who have helped save and restore the resort’s iconic attractions. Her Royal Highness will first visit the Blackpool Grand Theatre to watch a short performance.

Blackpool spearheading the flexible working revolution
A number of Blackpool’s big employers are embracing a new way of recruiting their people. Blackpool Football Club is just one of the region’s companies who have invited tech-driven recruitment company RedWigWam to fill a number of their new part-time jobs. RedWigWam matches employers online with the growing army of temporary workers seeking short-term, flexible work. It is the first business in the UK to pay its workers within 24 hours.

Blackpool park awarded best in UK
Stanley Park in Blackpool has been voted the best park in the UK 2019. Fields in Trust champions parks and green spaces and run the awards in which thousands voted. The park sits in 104 hectares and comprises a boating lake, sporting provisions, formal gardens, children’s play area, model village, golf course, historical buildings and café. The award is testament to the fantastic effort by the parks team and volunteers who help keep it clean and a place for all to enjoy all year round.

Lancashire law firm supports children’s hospice charity 
Staff from across Vincents Solicitors high street branches have come together to raise money for Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chorley. The private client department of the Lancashire law firm has pledged its support for the charity which provides care for sick children from across Lancashire. A series of events and activities over summer has raised more than £700 for the charity. The first saw Vincents enter a team in the Lancashire Chamber of Commerce charity It’s a Knockout fun day held at Guys Court in Bilsborrow.

Guest presenter announced for tourism awards
Blackpool-born professional ice-skater Daniel Whiston is to be guest presenter of this year’s Lancashire Tourism Awards ceremony, which will be held on Thursday 7 November at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena. On the night Twelve from Thornton in Cleveleys, the current holders of the 2018 Lancashire Tourism Award for Taste Lancashire Restaurant of the Year, will be providing a Lancashire themed three course dinner specially for the event.
