A RECIPE FOR A

VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS

With its traditional features beautifully decorated for Christmas, the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel is the perfect home from home this festive season, writes Kate Ford

The freshly roasted turkey is glistening bronze, the tree lights are twinkling, and the family are seated around the table, ready to enjoy their festive feast. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? And, it gets even better, because there’s absolutely no clearing away and washing up to do!

That’s one of the many benefits of going out for your Christmas lunch and, if you choose the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel for your celebration, you’re in for many more treats besides.

Firstly, the surroundings are perfect. The Dunkenhalgh Hotel building is 700 years old, set in 19 acres of majestic Lancashire countryside, creating beautiful views from almost every window. On this particular morning, the autumn colours on display are spectacular and you can just tell that, with the outdoor trees lit at Christmas, the gardens will look magical.

Inside, the hotel’s traditional features are complemented by stylish décor and tasteful furnishings. At its heart is a grand, double staircase sitting beneath a stunning, domed window with delicate stained-glass panels. Once the Christmas trees are decorated and the fairy lights sparkling, it really will be the dream setting for celebrating the festive season.

“The team here understand how special Christmas Day is, so they pull out all the stops to ensure that every need is catered for,” says Regional Sales Manager, Louise Woodcock. “Whether you’re a family with young children or an older group, we’ll have the perfect event for you.”

For families with children, the Family Christmas Lunch in the Hotel’s Pendle Suite is ideal. Four delicious courses in friendly, relaxed surroundings and a magician to make the occasion even more spellbinding. Other groups might prefer the Gourmet Christmas Day Lunch in the Cameo Restaurant and Bar, where a Bucks Fizz reception precedes the sumptuous three course feast.

There’s a similar choice of events on New Year’s Eve, when there’s a family celebration in the restaurant and bar, complete with Champagne reception, mocktails for the little ones, four course buffet and disco. “It’s an ideal opportunity for family groups to enjoy a really special night out with their children and nobody has to clear away all the glasses at the end of the night!” adds Louise.

Meanwhile, in the Pendle Suite, the stylish Black Tie Ball will also bring in the New Year. For adults only, it offers a Champagne reception and four course, candlelit dinner followed by entertainment from the brilliant Paul Guard and a disco. A Christmas Eve Dinner and Boxing Day Carvery provide additional opportunities for celebrating with family and friends during December.

Whichever occasion you choose, you’ll enjoy first class service in stylish but welcoming surroundings, where you can relax and enjoy yourselves whilst somebody else does the work. Sounds like a recipe for a very happy Christmas.
