A Reputation That’s Second To None

As a Lancastrian we are so lucky to have such beautiful landscapes and fabulous eateries right on our doorstep

The Ribble Valley has been in the headlines recently for all the right reasons. It’s been voted one of the best places to live in the UK in a recent Sunday Times poll and one of the most attractive of tourist destinations for visitors from far and wide.

National press food and travel journalists including Jay Rayner from The Guardian are frequent visitors and have helped promote an already burgeoning reputation for food and drink. Just last month the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs 2018 were announced – two of the top 10 were right in the Ribble Valley namely Freemasons at Wiswell and the Parkers Arms at Newton.

The Ribble Valley has built its reputation by many of the restaurants using the rich larder of products from here on our doorstep. We have a host of other award-winning cafes, gastropubs and of course our own Michelin restaurant – Northcote.

Recent additions to our opportunities to wine and dine is Holmes Mill – situated in Clitheroe – this is an incredible and interesting food destination with an award-winning bar and a variety of food and drink options. A new hotel and a fab food hall showcasing the very finest of Lancashire fayre.

We aren’t just about food though – our market towns of Clitheroe and Longridge boast many local independent shops offering a vast array of diverse products. Whalley has always had a reputation for high end retail and has a host of great places to eat and drink too.

The countryside around the towns is second to none, countless walks with dog friendly, muddy boot welcoming pubs and cafes and a myriad of local villages steeped in history and waiting to be explored. (You can find details of local walks on our website www.live-magazines.co.uk under Rambling.)

Arts and Culture are also not to be missed with a variety of galleries dotted around and plenty of special events coming up in the future including our annual jazz festival in May.

Lastly but by no means least, there is plenty to entertain the kids too – good old-fashioned fun exploring the woods and rivers combined with wet day activities. With Easter just around the corner come and join us and see what all the fuss is about.
