AN IDYLLIC SETTING…

Family owned Bashall Barn is the perfect destination this summer for shopping, dining or a unique rural wedding in the heart of the Ribble Valley countryside, writes Sarah de Waard. Photography: www.TheFrommShoppe.com

Having recently completed five months of refurbishment, Bashall Barn is all set to welcome both day visitors and wedding guests to enjoy the best that Lancashire has to offer.

With an emphasis on fresh, home-made food in great surroundings, with amazing views of the surrounding countryside, Bashall Barn is building on its reputation after an impressive 16 years in business.

Bashall Barn offers a range of unique retail outlets, a coffee shop and an award-winning restaurant.

Owner Simon Barnes tells me: “We are still very much a family owned business, and as such are fiercely independent. We are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to expanding our offering now that the refurbishment work is complete.”

Visitors can enjoy browsing in the farm shop where there is a fantastic choice of fresh, local produce. There are several places to eat, and visitors can have breakfast lunch and afternoon tea 363 days of the year, from 9am to 5pm.

If you are planning a wedding and looking for a unique venue, then the newly built Bashall Brook room is the perfect choice. Licenced for civil ceremonies, and with its own private entrance, the room offers stunning panoramic views of the Valley from its glass bi-fold doors leading on to a large terrace.

“In the evening, the whole place is yours when we reveal our new band booth and dance area, and you can indulge in our hog roast and ESSE wood fired pizza oven, with a capacity for an evening reception of up to 200,” Simon explains. “We have a dedicated wedding planner to help make your dreams come true and ensure you have an unforgettable day.”

So for great views whatever the weather, homemade ice cream when the sun shines and wood burning stoves when the weather turns chilly, you can be assured of a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Whatever your reason for a visit, you can have a real slice of Lancashire right in the heart of one of the most picturesque and charming Valleys in the country.
