AWARDS FINAL ON THE HORIZON

Having achieved their vision to provide patients with top class facilities, the team at Benjamin Opticians have been shortlisted in the 2019 Optician Awards

Always looking to keep ahead of the industry, Benjamin Opticians attracts patients from across the UK, who want the very best level of product choice, optical technology and customer service.

A short drive from the Ribble Valley, across the border to Skipton, this long-established Yorkshire practice has recently been nominated in the Optician Awards 2019 in the Practice Growth category.

Owner, Liz Ellis explains: “When you look at the other nominees you are looking at some of the best practices in the UK – they are forward-thinking, people who we have observed over the years – so for us to be recognised with them is an honour.”

Over the past three years Benjamin Opticians has doubled the size of its professional team to 23 and last year the practice opened its doors to a new five-room extension and refurbishment. The company has also invested in state-of-the-art technology including an OCT scanner that allows the optician to see deep behind the back of the eye, and a Colorimetry machine that can dramatically help children and adults improve their reading through coloured lenses.

The Colorimeter gives much better results than simply using coloured overlays and can also make a difference for those with dyslexia, Meares Irlen Syndrome and those who suffer from migraines or visual stress: “The results are immediate and quite simply amazing,” says Liz.

Featuring a huge collection of frames from the likes of Lindberg, Maui Jim, Oakley, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany, Dior and personalised bespoke frames by Tom Davies, Benjamin Opticians also have dedicated lens and contact lens suites, where patients can have individual lenses custom made.

From bespoke contact lenses that can just be worn at night, giving lens-free clear vision during the day, to daytime lenses made for efficiency and comfort – there are so many different options available at Benjamin’s.

“We recently had a first-time patient who had lived in London. He said Benjamin’s was similar to a high-end London practice,” recalls Liz. “It goes to show that in the north, here in Yorkshire, patients can access top class optical facilities.”

Having such a wealth of technology allows each patient to enjoy best possible vision giving them the freedom to enjoy reading, relaxing, driving or playing sport.

When patients visit Benjamin Opticians they benefit from a personalised service at every level – from qualified professional staff and the friendly team on reception to the examination suites featuring state-of-the-art technology.

Looking to the future, the Benjamin team is all set for the Opticians Awards finals in Birmingham later this month: “We have worked hard over the years to expand the practice to meet the needs of our patients,” concludes Liz.

“To be nominated for the Practice Growth Award is a fantastic recognition of what we have achieved, the facilities we are able to offer and the success that it brings.”
