My monthly catch up with the irrepressible Becky Govier was the day after a record-breaking Sunday at the Black Bull Old Langho, and Becky was full of praise for her incredible team.

Not one for resting on her laurels Becky wanted to run through the exciting programme for Christmas and New Year alongside the weeks leading up to the festive period. Dark nights and the weather turning colder has resulted in a new autumn menu from talented chef Callum, which reflects the season and also the bounty of autumn produce.

Innovations come thick and fast, with an incredible value mid-week two and three-course menu alongside a host of themed events and music. Becky has also conducted a poll with her clients to look at introducing a mid-week roast! The results are in, and we expect an announcement on social media very soon.

We must of course also look ahead to the festive season and the opportunity to enjoy great food, wine and the company of our family, friends and colleagues.

There are two menus available for groups under 10 and one for larger parties, both menus are available on the website and social media.

It’s a tremendous feeling to know you’ll be looked after so well by the team at the Bull whilst concentrating on simply having the best time. We all deserve to kick back and relax occasionally, and I can’t think of a better place to do it.

The signature days around the festive period are very much worthy of note – a stunning romantic candlelit dinner on Christmas Eve or a Boxing Day bash with live music, stand out for me.

New Year’s Eve has the very best of the a la carte menu available alongside signature specials from Callum – once your sumptuous dinner is over it’s party time with live music culminating in a fabulous firework display to bring in the New Year.

Space is of course limited so advance booking and a deposit is required to secure your place at the table. For many in the hospitality sector, this is a challenging time and it’s no different for Becky and her team but with your support I’m sure she will keep her winning smile – that potent mix of consistently great food and stellar service will make you want to come back time and time again.
