THE FABRIC OF LIFE…

Opening its doors earlier this month to showcase a collection of fabulous designer cloth, Fabric and Fent is a brand new warehouse set up by Edward and Georgia Dyson in the market town of Great Harwood on the edge of the Ribble Valley. Just off Queen Street, Fabric and Fent’s 1200 sq ft warehouse features well laid out fabrics covering curtaining, craft, dress and upholstery.

With free parking only a street away, Fabric and Fent has a truly eclectic mix that ranges in price from a couple of pounds out of the fent bins to designer fabrics up to £25 per metre.

Having been born into the textile industry with grandparents on both sides of the family weaving in Nelson, both Edward and Georgia are proud and delighted to be opening their fabric emporium!

“It is an exciting new chapter. The last 18 months has involved building stocks and selling online. With over 800 positive feedbacks on service, quality and communication, we now aim to bring this service to our new customers,” says Edward.

“The benefit of having this local fabric store is that the fabrics can be seen, felt and the repeat of the design can be viewed on our four metre cutting table. It is difficult to judge all those aspects from measurements and a picture online.”

Offering advice and expertise where needed and offering a free sampling service to ensure the colour and design fit your home or project, Fabric and Fent can enable you to put your own stamp on a home, party, wedding or up-cycling project.

“Up-cycling has never been more popular. It is both rewarding and therapeutic to upcycle an old piece of furniture giving it another lifetime of use. Shows like Escape to the Chateau on Channel 4 show what can be done on a budget to create your own designer look,” explains Edward.

“You can view a You Tube video in the morning and in the afternoon be reupholstering your old chair. Pop in to see us in between the two and buy some fabric of course!”

Fabric and Fent stock many many established brands such as Clarke and Clarke, Prestigious, Harlequin, Ashley Wilde, Romo in printed, colour-woven and knitted fabrics in all weights.

Demonstrating the diversity of their fabric collection, Fabric and Fent came to the rescue when a friend took on the task to make costumes for a school play. Having difficulty finding a green cotton for the play Robin of Sherwood, Georgia went though the stocks and found the perfect fabric for the project: “The costumes and the play were a joy to watch and picking out our fabrics was good fun too!”

Fabric and Fent look forward to meeting their new customer base and supplying fabric to the Ribble Valley and beyond.
